Why Do My Backlit Graphics Look Different Before Installation?

Why Do My Backlit Graphics Look Different Before Installation?

When you first unpack your backlit graphics, you may notice that the colors appear duller, darker, or different from the proof that was approved. This is completely normal and is a result of the dye-sublimation printing process used to produce backlit fabric graphics.

Treatment:
Our backlit graphics are printed on a specially treated polyester fabric. While the material starts as a white fabric, it undergoes a finishing process that allows light to pass through it evenly once installed in an illuminated display. Because the fabric is designed to be viewed with internal lighting, its appearance can vary significantly depending on whether it is lit or unlit.

When the graphic is viewed without lights, the colors may seem muted, less vibrant, or slightly different from what was expected. However, once the graphic is installed in its frame and the LED lights are turned on, the illumination activates the intended color profile and brings out the full vibrancy, depth, and contrast of the print. This illuminated state is how the graphic was intended to be viewed and is the best representation of the approved artwork.

For this reason, we recommend evaluating backlit graphics only after they have been fully installed and illuminated. The appearance of the fabric when removed from the frame or viewed without lighting should not be considered indicative of the final displayed result.
